This action-based collaborative is being fueled by community-based innovation and supported by these backbone organizations. These groups are dedicated to food justice and willing to put time, leadership and resources into building and sustaining the MFJN. The Backbone is creating the legal and financial container for the MFJN Leadership Team and Action Teams to make decisions about resources and collaborative work. These organizations came together to form the backbone infrastructure of the Metro Food Justice Network with trust and a shared commitment to “throwing a different kind of party” and shifting the social context within which the food justice community has been working.
