Connecting youth into the local food justice landscape through collaborative events and including youth voice in policy and advocacy.
Current projects:
- Continue to Build on Youth Programs Skill share activities: Provide Transportation and Food to collaborative events; Create a core group of youth from each program to be Youth ambassadors for MFJN who can actively advocate for Youth within Ag Programs. Send these Youth to other Cities to work with Youth doing similar activist work.
- Collaborators: Urban Roots, Appetite For Change, Youth Farm, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, and more
- Holistic Health Farms: Youth Ambassador development of the African American Heritage Urban Gardening Program including development of a production and market system at the Black Youth Healing Arts Center. In continued partnership with the Landscape Arboretum, we will build a greenhouse using sustainable practices. We will host a sliding scale market stand to provide youth with experience selling produce. Both youth and community members will be involved in planning and construction. We will continue to build relationships with other community organizations, community members and elders.
