The Youth Action Team held a cross-programmatic event this summer with youth workers from Urban Roots and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. We made pizza at the Arboretum’s test kitchen, and Marcos from Urban Roots facilitated a participatory food justice workshop where youth workers built a root cause tree: identifying for themselves how food injustice manifests in their communities and tracing that injustice down to its roots, while identifying ways to intervene at different levels along the way.

As an action team, we are now getting further involved with the work of MFJN so that we can better include youth voice in policy and advocacy around food justice, and better connect interested youth into the local food justice landscape. If you’re interested in joining in, you can contact team lead Marcos at Urban Roots.
